About Kyle
I'm here to listen to you and to collaborate on the best course of action to tackle any problem you're having on any number of subjects. They call me the "Swiss army knife" at work because I've done everything from organic chemistry to battery / electrical engineering. Eager to hear the problem, and eager to work with you to solve it. I understand that people have different personalities and I'm willing to work with yours to boost your confidence and capabilities in the field at hand at any level.

I teach by enabling students to develop their tool belt so that any problem that's asked of them, they are able to answer directly, or at the very minimum, find the resources needed to solve the problem. I often teach through socratic methods (asking questions and listening to their answers), because there are times where I hear creative and unique responses; nothing to bat an eye at. Through my own teaching, the people I've trained at work, and the peopled I've trained under, the best outcomes come from a dynamic relationship. I seek to have students ask questions (the more the better) and to take initiative in developing a scientific methodology of teaching.
Lesson plans can range from gaining insight into their preferred methods of learning in the first few days to a few weeks, followed by material that is sectioned by relevance. It's imperative to make sure there's a story-line to any project or assignment. Beginning, middle, end, or as we call it as scientists, the scientific method. Hypothesis/theory, methodology, experimentation, results, discussion, and conclusions. It paints a complete picture and is something deliverable whether it's at school, in the work force, or amongst colleagues.
I excel in chemistry, materials science, battery engineering, machine shop / 3D printing, data science / analytics, Design of Experiments, metrology (analytical techniques), and team management (I built a team out from myself to training 12 other individuals including a director based on the confidence the board had in my project). I can teach interviewing skills (both giving and receiving) and how to approach and answer questions for interviews, how to sharpen resumes and other social media platforms, and how to develop networks to enable opportunities.
A bit about me: My favorite airplane is the SR-71 blackbird because it reminds me to fly high and fly fast and not a single one has ever been shot down after over 17,000 sorties (that we know of). I believe that emotional intelligence (EQ) is just as important is your intellectual quotient (IQ). I've work as a contractor at a nuclear stockpile stewardship facility (LLNL) as well as for a couple of start-ups (polar opposites). I've got two patents under my belt and am finishing up two academic papers to be submitted into prestigious journals. I've taught general chemistry courses and TA'ed in inorganic chemistry (mostly with instruments, sample synthesis, and grading). I was logistics officer, treasurer, and finally VP for the chemistry and biochemistry student association at SFSU as well as M.C. to the graduation ceremonies on 2 occasions. I'm a people person and can work with anyone. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time! I'm more than happy to answer more questions if you have them.
