About Lyra
I hold a B.Sc in Mathematics and an M.Sc in Pure Mathematics, and I bring over 11 years of experience teaching students with diverse academic abilities and learning styles. My academic journey strengthened my appreciation for mathematical structure, proof, and logical clarity, which deeply influences the way I teach. I believe mathematics should feel understandable, not intimidating. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and highly adaptable. I take time to understand how each student thinks and where confusion begins before adjusting explanations accordingly. I value open communication and create a supportive environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions and expressing uncertainty without fear. Outside formal teaching, I stay engaged with mathematics through problem-solving exploration, academic reading, and applied mathematical studies. Teaching mathematics is deeply fulfilling because I witness students transform from doubt to confidence. Helping learners develop clarity, independence, and belief in their abilities is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

Mathematics becomes far more approachable when students clearly understand why methods work rather than simply memorizing formulas. My lessons are designed to uncover the logic behind mathematical processes, helping learners connect ideas across topics and build confidence through understanding. I explain concepts slowly and clearly, ensuring that each new idea is built on a solid foundation so students feel secure as complexity increases.
At the foundational level, students strengthen arithmetic fluency, algebraic reasoning, fractions, ratios, and basic geometry. As learners progress, lessons expand into functions, trigonometry, coordinate geometry, probability, statistics, and introductory calculus. I place strong emphasis on method selection, step-by-step working, and interpreting questions accurately. Regular practice, guided correction, and reflective discussion help students recognize mistakes as part of the learning process.
Over time, mathematics lessons develop more than academic skill. Students gain patience, focus, and structured thinking that positively impacts other subjects. Many learners begin to approach challenges with greater calm and confidence. My goal is to help students trust their reasoning, reduce anxiety around problem-solving, and feel capable when working independently with mathematical concepts in exams and real-world situations.
