About Nora
I am a Yale researcher studying plant evolution, but my "unofficial major" and my greatest source of joy throughout my college years has been my Arabic studies. I have studied Modern Standard Arabic and Levantine dialect for 8 years, including an intensive summer course at the Qasid Institute in Amman, Jordan. I taught a semester of Yale's introductory Arabic class, where I was responsible for preparing lesson plans, providing one-on-one coursework support and speaking practice, and finding innovative ways to keep students engaged over Zoom.

I enjoy teaching students of all levels, but I have particular experience introducing true beginners to the Arabic language and providing support in overcoming some of the obstacles that so often discourage prospective Arabic studies from continuing their studies. I base my approach to teaching upon my experience as a student and a teacher in Arabic classrooms in the U.S. and the Middle East. I believe a key component of learning a "difficult" language like Arabic is to incorporate games, creative activities, and a sense of humor into every lesson.
