About Miranda
My name is Miranda but everyone just calls me Mimi, I’m 19 years old and
I was born and raised in Venezuela. At 10 years old I first fell in love with programming when I found the coding lessons from Khan Academy.
I’ve been in the U.S. for almost 4 years and ever since I got here I’ve taken all of the opportunities that I can to learn more.
I will go to college to pursue aerospace engineering and astrophysics. My dream is to help with space exploration and research about our vast universe.

It’s funny to think that computers can be compared to kids. They won’t do anything that you don’t teach them how to do. Computers are there to follow our instructions, how cool is that?! Imagine all of the possibilities that we have to make what’s in our imagination.
This is why I love teaching the basics of computer science!
I held coding booth camps for elementary and middle school students when I was in high school. We taught kids the computer scientist train of thought and problem solving skills to succeed in this field! I believe that promoting this problem solving mindset at an early age will not only help the student succeed in the field, but in life!
We will play around with coding blocks and clever problems for the kids to brainstorm and solve! I will teach them the basics of computer science and how amazing computers are, going into deeper topics such as how the computer uses binary code.
I’ve seen this method succeed in our booth camps at school and it improves every day!
