About Garrett
I am an active tournament player and the Anne Arundel County Public Schools champion, holding a 1900+ online rapid rating (97th Percentile). I bring over a year of tournament play and teaching experience to my students. Currently, I coach two scholastic players who have both won competitive tournaments under my guidance. With over a year of teaching experience, my coaching philosophy focuses on making chess engaging, strategic, and fun. Every lesson plan is fully adapted to individual students' goals and current skill level.
The first lesson will likely be focused on learning the students' aspirations, skill level, and primary weaknesses in their play. I specialize in training beginners and intermediate players with lessons best suited for individuals rated under 1700 online or under 1300 USCF.
