About Nur
I am a passionate and dedicated Mathematics educator with over 10 years of teaching experience in both secondary and tertiary education. I am currently a part-time Mathematics Lecturer in Penang and a PhD candidate in Statistics, with extensive experience teaching students from different academic backgrounds and learning abilities.
My teaching areas include Form 1–5 Mathematics (including SPM), IGCSE Mathematics, Foundation Mathematics, Diploma Mathematics, and selected Degree-level Mathematics. Throughout my teaching journey, I have developed strong experience in lesson planning, assessment preparation, and providing personalised guidance to help students improve their understanding and academic performance.
I chose to teach because I believe Mathematics is a skill that every student can develop with the right support and approach. The most rewarding part of being an educator is seeing students progress from feeling unsure or struggling with Mathematics to becoming more confident, independent learners who are able to solve problems successfully. Helping students overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals is my greatest motivation and satisfaction as a teacher.
My teaching philosophy focuses on making Mathematics clear, structured, and engaging. I use step-by-step explanations, problem-solving strategies, real-life examples, and student-centred learning approaches with gamification elements to increase motivation and engagement. I aim to create a positive learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, develop confidence, and build a strong foundation in Mathematics.

I have created many different methods and approaches to make teaching a fun and enjoyable process for students. I also provide students with notes and fun learning activities to attract them. Many of my students show improvement when learning using my methods.
I tailor each lesson to the student's learning needs, focusing on conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and exam preparation. My teaching approach combines clear explanations, step-by-step methods, guided practice, and interactive learning techniques. I also incorporate **gamification elements** and student-centred strategies to enhance engagement, motivation, and confidence in Mathematics.
A typical lesson lasts 1–2 hours, depending on the student's level and learning objectives.
I have over 10 years of Mathematics teaching experience and am currently a Mathematics Lecturer and a PhD candidate in Statistics. I teach secondary school Mathematics (Form 1–5, SPM), IGCSE Mathematics, Foundation Mathematics, Diploma Mathematics, and selected Degree-level Mathematics.
