About Cassie
I'm first and foremost a mom of two special needs kids, constantly learning to adapt my parenting and tutoring to suit their unique personalities.
Next in line, I'm a professional non-fiction writer and editor who has provided these services to a range of clients for more than 20 years.
I'm also an aspiring novel writer, most comfortable in the fantasy, humour and horror genres, but willing to take on virtually any genre.
Several of my short stories and articles have been published in various print and digital magazines. I love the written word, and I love sharing that passion by helping others.

In University, I majored in English, with a minor in Professional Communication, including attaining the title of Research Fellow in the Electronic Textual Cultures Lab. There, I worked on a project designed to make knowledge and research readily available to the public.
As a tutor, I strive to combine all I’ve learned in my own education with the tips and techniques I’ve picked up as a professional writer and editor, and tailor each lesson to my students’ unique needs and learning style.
A typical lesson in Creative Writing might look like this:
*Warm-up exercise. This can include brainstorming interesting characters, settings or scenarios for a short story.
*Guided Discussion. Exploring story structure and narrative techniques.
*Workshop Session. Short scene writing, after which the student receives constructive and gentle feedback with the aim of helping them improve their writing skills.
I'm patient and able to adapt my lessons to suit different learning styles. I work primarily with students from grades 5 to 12, but I'm open to tutoring college and university-level students as well, particularly in Essay Writing.
