About Zahava
Hi, I’m Zahava—a dedicated and approachable educator with a unique journey from speech and communications into the world of technology. My background in communication has deeply shaped the way I teach: with clarity, empathy, and a strong focus on connecting with every student. After several years of working in education—including special education—I pursued a second degree in computer science, driven by a passion for logical problem-solving and creativity through code. As an adjunct lecturer at Queens College, I taught Intro to Object-Oriented Programming and support students of all levels in mastering programming concepts with confidence. I know what it’s like to start fresh, and I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

As a tutor, I, Zahava, bring a patient, inclusive, and structured approach to teaching object-oriented programming. My methodology blends hands-on coding exercises with real-world examples to help students truly understand core programming concepts, not just memorize them. I adapt each lesson to the student's learning style—whether they're visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learners—ensuring every session is both engaging and effective.
A typical lesson includes:
A brief review of previous content
Clear objectives for the session
Live coding demonstrations
Interactive problem-solving
Time for questions and real-time feedback
Short assignments or practice tasks to reinforce learning
What sets me apart is my unique combination of experience: I’m an adjunct lecturer at Queens College for Intro to Object-Oriented Programming and have over 4 years of experience teaching in both mainstream and special education environments. This background has given me a strong ability to connect with diverse learners, break down complex topics, and build confidence in my students.
My lessons are ideal for:
Undergraduate students taking introductory computer science or Java-based courses
Adult learners transitioning into tech
High school students preparing for college-level CS classes
Neurodiverse learners who benefit from structured and compassionate instruction
Whether you're struggling with inheritance or just need help debugging a class project, I'm here to help you succeed—one method, object, and class at a time!
