About Akil
Hello, my name is Akil Balakrishnan, and I am currently a Year 12 student at The Manchester Grammar School studying Maths, Chemistry, and Economics. I achieved GCSE grades of 9 in Maths, Chemistry, Electronics, English Language, and English Literature, alongside grade 8s in Biology and Physics, giving me a strong academic foundation across a range of subjects.
I am passionate about teaching because I understand that every student learns differently, and I enjoy helping others build confidence and achieve their goals. Having recently completed my own GCSEs, I can relate to the challenges students face and provide effective study techniques, clear explanations, and practical exam advice.
My approach to tutoring is patient, supportive, and tailored to each student's individual needs. I aim to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their understanding at their own pace. Whether a student is preparing for the 11+, GCSE examinations, or simply looking to improve their confidence in a subject, I am committed to helping them reach their full potential.

My tutoring approach focuses on building confidence and helping students develop a strong understanding of key concepts through clear explanations, worked examples, and regular practice questions. Lessons typically last between 1–2 hours and are tailored to each student’s individual needs and learning style. I have experience tutoring younger students at my school and achieved GCSE grades of 9 in Maths, Chemistry, Electronics, English Language and English Literature, as well as grade 8s in Biology and Physics. I am currently a Year 12 student at The Manchester Grammar School studying Maths, Chemistry, and Economics. My lessons are suitable for students aged 8–16, including those preparing for 11+ examinations, GCSEs, or school assessments who want to improve their understanding and academic performance.
