About Adam

Experience, compassion, and aid at your fingertips. One of the best parts about tutoring is that, unlike the classroom, you get to form a friendship with your pupil. We are all doing our best to make it. And having another member of the "academic intelligentsia" looking over your shoulder while you read and write is not going to help anyone. When you work with me, you have someone who is willing to come along side you and work with you. We will do hard and good work in our sessions, but we will also have fun doing it.

I am not a robot or an alien posing as a human to earn extra money. I am a passionate teacher with free time and a deep Iove to see people grow. And I am excited to work with you soon,

My approach to English, tutoring and with students in the classroom, is to focus on the beauty of story. We all love stories, though forms differ. "That book was incredible", "This is my favorite movie", "Well, what did you say to her?". These are all forms of stories which we love to engage with. And everyone knows how to engage with story well on some level.

Oftentimes, literature and academic English do not feel nearly as approachable as the stories we encounter from day to day. In essence, we get lost in the sauce. The grammar, spelling, punctuation, and structure all matter, but the main idea is what makes a great paper. How can we get to that main idea, while also maintaining quality in the little things around the central purpose? That is what I am here to guide you through.

A typical lesson plan will depend on the desired outcome. Do you want help understanding a classic novel? Do you want edits on your paper? Is literary theory confusing you? Each lesson will need to be tailored to the needs of the individual person and situation. You will be able to customize your hour with what you think you need most. And if you do not know what you need, you can always lay out the situation for me and I can break it down into easy and manageable steps. A good tutor will eventually work themselves out of a job because the pupil will begin to not only absorb the information, but the skills.
