About Maketha
Hello and welcome!
My name is Maketha. I am a native English speaker from the United States with TEFL and Science of Reading Certifications. I am an educator, mentor, and advocate who is passionate about helping others unlock their potential through English.
I have more than 20+ years of experience teaching children and adults in the traditional classroom and online. I am a Child Development Specialist who served as an ESL teacher at a private Montessori kindergarten in China for 5 years. That experience honed my skills in creating and facilitating effective lesson plans amongst a diverse community of English learners.
I teach because I believe education has the power to transform lives. Learning English can open doors to better career opportunities, higher education, meaningful connections, and greater confidence. There is nothing more rewarding to me than seeing a student overcome their fears, develop their skills, and achieve goals they once thought were out of reach.
My teaching style is supportive, encouraging, and student-centered. I strive to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and growing in confidence. Whether you are learning English for work, school, travel, business, or personal development, I am committed to helping you succeed.
