About Augusto

My name is Augusto Gonzalez Bonorino and I am originally from Argentina. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with Honors from Marist College (NY) in May 2022 with a double major in Economics and Data Science.

After graduation, I went through graduate school and taught economic theory and advanced econometrics at Pomona College. My graduate studies journey is unorthodox, which I believe to be a strength. After obtaining a masters from Claremont Graduate University, I was accepted to Arizona State University's PhD program. I attended the first yet, but did not find what I was looking for: new methods, ideally computational, to answer new questions about the interaction of society, culture, and technology. I consider myself an out-of-equilibrium economist, who cares what the super rational agents would do anyways right?

So I dropped out. Currently I run EconLLM ((concealed information) a research lab developing new methods for quantitative social science using Large Language Models, and co-founded Perwell Group, a consultancy focused on latent structural models of wellbeing and team performance.

I grew up in Ushuaia playing rugby, soccer, skiing, and basketball. At 14 years old, we moved to Tucuman and I switched to tennis, which eventually gave me the opportunity to pursue my undergraduate education in the United States on Division 1 athletic scholarship. A few years ago I started a series of Udemy online courses on various topics - in Spanish - with my dad. In 2026, I started sharing my writing with the public via substack (concealed information) with the hope of motivating substantive discourse on social science research in the age AI. Check the blog out and let me know your thoughts if you'd like :)

I look forward to getting to know you better and learn how I can best assist you in your personal learning journey.

About the lesson

I am straightforward and organized. My lessons will be tailored to your level of interest and specific applications you have in mind. This can range from purely theoretical lessons to applied projects to master certain modeling frameworks. I am relaxed and very patient, always striving to find the optimal way to teach given the student's preferred way to learn. Moreover, I am very hands-on, I like to talk about the problems we are trying to solve to develop a conceptual understanding first. Then, if needed, we move on to the technical details like the underlying mathematics or programming implementation. I am originally from Argentina, so if you prefer lessons in Spanish I'll be happy to do so!

I can help you prepare for exams, incorporate AI tools into your study or research pipeline to increase productivity, learn a new topic you are passionate about, or even pick up Python or R to take your data science skills to the next level.

Regardless of your initial level of expertise, my background teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level has prepared me to quickly adapt to your needs and provide a pleasant learning experience.

Augusto is a natural-born leader. If there was ever a question, Augusto would know the answer. On the off chance that he didn’t know the answer, he would find a way to figure it out in a neat and expedient fashion. He is a genius. Everything that he puts his mind to is accomplished. He graduated with high honors from Marist College while also being a part of multiple extracurriculares. He is polite, well-respected, and trustworthy. Anyone who works with Augusto or gets help from Augusto is someone who is in good hands.
