About Scott
I have a doctorate in English from the University of Florida, and I am currently an assistant professor at the University of Memphis (UofM) English department, where I have been working since 2016. Prior to that, I received an MA at Bowling Green University, and a BA at the University of Minnesota. I also directed the Center for Writing and Communication at the UofM from 2016-2021. I have been teaching English at the college level since 2009, and I have experience in rhetoric, writing studies, literature, technical communication, business writing, media studies, cultural studies, and critical theory.

My pedagogical methodology is adaptive: that is, I will adjust my approach and lessons based on a student's needs. We will thus discuss a plan of action at the beginning of an appointment/lesson and move from there. While improving a given product is always a practical goal, I also view tutoring/lessons as an opportunity to improve a student's aptitude in English in a more comprehensive, long-term sense.
