I was taught by Arkie at MetFilm School on the 6 month full time screen acting course, and it has to be said that he was a fantastic teacher.

Kind, supportive and very knowledgeable, I learnt so much from my time with him. You always felt like you were free to experiment and bring yourself to the table. It was actively encouraged.

I had the chance to have Arkie as a teacher for many months and can’t recommend him enough. He always created a save space to explore, found the right words to explain and had the perfect balance between challenging and supporting me. He did not just teach me a lot about acting but also about the industry itself which is equally important. With him being a successful actor, he brings a lot of knowledge to the table.

I was lucky enough to meet Arkie during my time at MetFilm School, where he was our course leader and main acting tutor, and to be able to continue working with him one-on-one since graduating. His teaching has honestly been life-changing. His sessions strike the perfect balance: he’s responsive to my goals and what I want to work on, but also knows when to take the lead, make suggestions, and push me in new directions. Communication is always smooth and central to his teaching style. As a working actor himself he knows the industry inside and out and he is brilliant at transferring his expertise and knowledge into his lessons. I have to credit Arkie for a turning point in my life. He gave generosity and forgiveness and room to discover that was foreign to me. I never learnt much from teachers, but there’s an education and gift to just his being. He’s an artist; and I’ll be forever grateful.

Normally it is one thing to find a great actor and another thing to find a great acting teacher. With Arkie I found the very rare combination of both. An actual successful working actor sharing all his knowledge about what it takes to make it in this industry. He’s also the best person to prepare me for a casting or do self tapes with. Arkie is the best acting teacher I could’ve hoped for. His classes are incredibly varied, covering everything from script analysis, scene work, and self-tape preparation (where he personally films and reads the scene with me) to on-camera technique, character development, audition skills, improv, and even industry advice. Each class is both challenging and exciting, and he knows exactly how to prepare actors for anything the industry might throw their way.

I met Arkie working for a spot, where I had the honor of seeing him work his magic on set as the lead actor. I then asked him for private lessons to improve my acting and I was surprised at how emphatic and encouraging he could be. He is very committed to his role as a teacher, trying to identify personal strengths and weaknesses, and being available to any doubts or difficulties. He’s able to keep you on your toes and challenge you to find new sides of yourself.
