About Peggy
Hello! I'm Dr. Peggy Edwards-Jones, a passionate educator with more than 30 years of experience helping students achieve academic success. Throughout my career, I have served as a mathematics teacher, principal, district mathematics leader, instructional coach, and educational consultant. I earned my Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership because I believe every student deserves access to high-quality instruction and the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Mathematics has always been one of my greatest passions, and I enjoy helping students move beyond memorizing procedures to truly understanding mathematical concepts. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing in confidence. I celebrate progress, encourage perseverance, and tailor each lesson to meet the individual needs of every learner.
Whether a student is working to improve grades, prepare for an important exam, strengthen foundational skills, or challenge themselves with advanced mathematics, I provide patient, engaging, and personalized instruction designed to help them succeed. I look forward to partnering with students and families to build confidence, develop strong mathematical thinking, and make learning an enjoyable experience.

My philosophy is that every student can learn mathematics when instruction is personalized, expectations are high, and learning is connected to confidence. As a Doctor of Education with more than 30 years of experience as a mathematics educator, principal, district mathematics leader, and instructional coach, I understand that success in math requires more than simply finding the correct answer—it requires developing strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and a growth mindset.
I begin each tutoring relationship by identifying a student's strengths, learning style, and areas of need. From there, I develop an individualized learning plan that targets specific concepts while building confidence and independence. During each session, I use clear explanations, guided practice, visual models, real-world examples, and continuous feedback to ensure students truly understand the material before moving forward.
A typical lesson includes a brief review of previous learning, direct instruction on new concepts, guided problem-solving, independent practice with coaching, and a summary of key strategies that students can apply independently in class and on assessments. I also help students develop effective study habits, organization, and test-taking strategies that support long-term academic success.
What sets me apart is my unique combination of classroom teaching, school leadership, and instructional coaching experience. I have spent my career not only teaching mathematics but also coaching teachers, leading successful schools, improving instructional programs, and helping students at every achievement level reach their academic goals. I understand how mathematics is taught across grade levels and know how to identify learning gaps that often prevent students from making progress.
I provide tutoring for middle school, high school, and early college students in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Precalculus, and college readiness mathematics. I also support students preparing for standardized assessments, final exams, and advanced coursework. Whether a student needs intervention, enrichment, homework support, or preparation for an important exam, my goal is to help every learner build mathematical understanding, confidence, and a genuine belief in their ability to succeed.
