About Ruta
I have earned two degrees in piano performance from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, both bachelors and masters. I've been teaching and coaching privately for nearly 6 years now, primarily working with kids and young adults.
I am also a twice-published poet, visual artist and illustrator, and songwriter/lyricist. I have a deep love for the visual and literary arts and how they interweave with classical and contemporary music performance.

I actively take an interest in my students as individuals, with personalities and learning styles that are unique to them. I like to work from a place of curiosity and inspiration, because I find that these elements are what motivates discipline and growth.
I work with a wide range of levels and ages, but I love working with pianists who are serious about classical music and are perhaps seeking enthusiastic guidance for honing their craft. I also love beginners and working with kids, who are a constant source of inspiration to me.
