About Laurence
I started playing chess out of the late remembrance of a kind of cool book I read and forgot a while later. I forgot what the game was called, so I asked my dad and he said it was called chess. I found out how to play on chess.com, played Martin and (eventually) beat him. I was hooked! I’ve played through a lot of the ups and the downs of chess in my time, and I’ve cried more than once when I lost a chess game. But I never stopped playing, because chess is kinda cool. I hope that we can both experience its coolness together!

Hi! My name’s Lawrence, I’m 12 years old, and I’m really passionate about teaching chess! I have 4 years of professional chess experience and my rating is 2200 on chess.com.
• I aim to provide a fun and safe learning environment for your kid; and whenever I teach a lesson, I want to assure you that one of my parents are always in the room.
• Lessons will typically last for one hour; I will teach openings, tactics, and do a review of the student’s previous game.
• My lessons are only for 5-12 year-olds; I am unable to teach adults.
