About Hollis
I believe that every student has the ability to grow when they are given encouragement, patience, and the right learning opportunities. With 12 years of Guitar tutoring experience, I have successfully taught around 300-350 High School and College students. This has been an important milestone in my career and has strengthened my dedication to education.
My teaching approach focuses on making Guitar learning simple, practical, and enjoyable. I begin by understanding the student's experience, musical interests, and goals. This helps me plan lessons that are suitable for their individual needs.
I teach chords, scales, rhythm, strumming, finger techniques, music theory, song learning, and performance skills. I explain techniques step by step and use practical examples so students can understand how each skill works.
I also encourage creativity by allowing students to explore music they enjoy. Favorite songs can help students stay motivated and make it easier for them to see the purpose behind their practice.
Teaching 300-350 students has been a significant achievement for me. It has given me experience with many different learning styles and has taught me how to adjust my teaching approach. I have become more patient and flexible because of these experiences.
One of the most rewarding parts of my career is seeing students overcome challenges. Watching a learner improve from basic exercises to playing complete songs gives me a strong sense of achievement.
I encourage students to set small goals and work consistently. I help them understand that learning Guitar is a journey and that mistakes are normal. Each mistake can become a useful lesson.
I also want my students to develop qualities that extend beyond music. Through Guitar, they can improve creativity, discipline, focus, patience, perseverance, and confidence.
My goal is to help students become confident musicians who enjoy learning and are comfortable practicing independently.
I am thankful for every student I have taught and proud of the experience I have gained. I look forward to continuing my career as a Guitar educator and inspiring many more High School and College students.

My Guitar teaching approach focuses on understanding, practice, and performance. I believe students should understand the purpose behind a Guitar technique instead of simply memorizing notes or patterns.
I first use Communication to understand the student's current skills, musical interests, goals, and learning preferences. I explain concepts clearly and encourage students to ask questions.
I use Adaptation to Learning Styles through visual demonstrations, audio examples, chord charts, written notes, repetition, and practical activities. I adjust the teaching method according to the student's needs.
I use Real-life Examples and Case Studies to connect Guitar concepts with real music. Students learn why certain chords work together, how rhythm creates musical feel, how scales can support melodies and solos, and how different Guitar techniques are used in performances.
My Guitar lessons cover chords, strumming, rhythm guitar, fingerstyle, picking, scales, lead guitar, improvisation, music theory, ear training, songwriting, and performance preparation. Related subjects include Music Theory, Songwriting, Ear Training, Rhythm Training, Music Appreciation, Basic Composition, and Performance Skills.
I encourage students to understand a concept first, practice it carefully, and then apply it through songs or creative exercises. I provide regular feedback to improve technique and musical expression.
My goal is to help students become thoughtful and confident Guitar players who understand music, perform comfortably, and continue improving independently.
