About Kathleen
I was born in Peru but grew up in the U.S., and learned Spanish when I returned to Peru as an adult, while I was teaching in an elementary/high school. I translated for visitors from the U.S. to our school and taught classes in high school for English as a Second Language. I also continued interpreting and translating when I returned to the States and worked in public schools.

I think the best way to learn a language is to use it- to have conversation and experiment with expression in communication. Spanish is so regionally different, and has so many accents; when I teach it, I try to provide a basic vocabulary and then empower my students to use that to start communicating. I also encourage reading and listening to music, or watching movies and tv, in the language.
