About Eric
First and foremost, I'm a welcoming down to earth individual with 7 years of experience teaching children aged 4 to 16 how to sail. The experience I gained teaching sailing was invaluable. Through this time I learned how to best break down lessons into easy to follow progressive steps. I learned how to adapt teaching depending on the age and skill set presented. And I learned that every individual learns at a different pace and that patience and kindness are some of the best tools for teaching.
As far as my academic and professional background are concerned, I am a recent graduate from the University of Victoria with a degree in Biochemistry. Work experience includes research in synthetic biology labs, as well testing patient samples for COVID 19 at the BC Centre for Disease Control.
Hobbies include backcountry skiing, cross country running/hiking, ultimate frisbee, piano and guitar

With my degree in biochemistry, research experience and seven years teaching and supporting kids learning to sail, I will be able to bring ease and joy to learning these notoriously difficult subjects. When teaching, I always cater to the students needs and goals. With that in mind, lessons will be stepwise, easy to follow and will always have the students greater goals as a guide.
