About Mariah
I am a biologist who tutored a number of students in a walk-in tutoring center for 3 years while earning my undergraduate degree. The number of students who came into the center varied on a day to day basis, but within a 1 hour shift, I would see upwards of 20 students. I also organized and conducted weekly study sessions for Organic Chemistry for 1.5 years; there was a 50% higher pass rate for students who attended my study sessions versus those who didn't.
Additionally, I have practical research experience and I am second author on a published scientific paper. I have also worked more recently in a clinical laboratory and have obtained more hands-on experience with certain biotechniques, namely q-PCR.

I give lessons to high school and college students in their biology and chemistry classes. My techniques and approach are largely about identifying where you, as a student, are struggling to bring focus to our sessions, and to reinforce concepts where necessary. Rather than asking you to memorize information, my preference is to help you grasp the underlying concepts and foster understanding so you can carry this to future classes.
