About Beatrice
Hello, my name is Béatrice! I am currently studying Medicine at the University of St Andrews and have a strong academic background having achieved A* grades in A-level Biology and French and an A in Chemistry.
I was born and raised in France until the age of 11 which led me to be bilingual. I love helping students to develop their confidence in the language and seeing them improve is why I do it.
I am a friendly, approachable and patient person and I understand that every student learns differently. I aim to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while working towards their goals.
During Sixth Form at Ripon Grammar School I was a prefect and regularly mentored a younger student which gave me experience supporting and encouraging others. I have also helped with medical school interview preparation and I particularly enjoy helping students build confidence in situations where they may initially feel unsure of themselves.

I am currently studying Medicine at the University of St Andrews and I approach tutoring in a way that is tailored to each student. I am personable and adaptable and I adjust my teaching to suit the student’s age, level and individual learning style.
For Chemistry and Biology I like to focus on developing a holistic understanding of the subject while working closely with exam-board mark schemes. I usually begin by identifying a student’s weaker areas and targeting these first, as improving gaps in their knowledge and exam technique is often where they can gain marks most quickly. Students are always welcome to come to a lesson with specific topics or questions they would like to work on and I am happy to adapt the lesson around their needs. I aim to help students understand how to apply their knowledge, structure their answers and maximise their marks in exams. I achieved an A* in A-level Biology and an A in A-level Chemistry, as well as grade 9s in both subjects at GCSE.
For French, I was born and raised in France until the age of 11 and I am fluent. I achieved an A* in A-level French and a grade 9 at GCSE. I can support students across a range of levels from beginners through to more advanced learners with vocabulary, speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Lessons will typically last one hour but I am happy to adapt the length depending on the student’s age, concentration and requirements.
I have previous tutoring experience in medical school applications and interview preparation. I helped a student prepare for medical school interviews, focusing on confidence and answering interview questions. They subsequently received offers from 3 out of 4 medical schools.
