About Serena
I completed my Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences from the University of Nevada, where I participated in molecular labs, school science outreach, and environmental biology programs. With 7+ years of teaching experience, I’ve worked with students who needed basic science support, those wanting deeper molecular explanations, and those preparing for advanced high-school biology. My teaching style blends clarity, patience, and storytelling, making the subject approachable and relatable. I teach Biology by helping students see the subject as a living story. Microbiology becomes engaging when we connect microorganisms to everyday life—soil beneath our feet, food we eat, water we drink, and air we breathe. Cell Biology becomes easier when I guide students to imagine cells as bustling microscopic cities, with each organelle performing essential tasks.
Genetics becomes fascinating when we explore DNA, traits, and inheritance through family examples and visual diagrams. Physiology becomes deeply meaningful when students understand how organ systems work together to maintain life—from breathing and circulation to digestion and movement.
Molecular Biology, often intimidating for younger learners, becomes smooth and accessible when I break DNA replication, transcription, translation, and protein synthesis into simple, beautifully connected steps. Biotechnology becomes exciting when students see how biology influences medicine, engineering, farming, and the future of science.
I address every doubt with care, explaining concepts again through analogies, drawings, and slow breakdowns. By the end, students not only understand biology—they begin to appreciate it.
