About Kate
I am a PhD student in Evolutionary Biology, where I combine my experience in biology and programming. I completed my undergrad at Trinity College Dublin, where I achieved first class honors and a gold medal for outstanding academic achievement.
Outside of the lab, I have extensive experience in communicating science to a range of audiences, having worked for Science Gallery Dublin and developed a range of activities for secondary school students.
I have tutored other students for over 10 years, working with both second- and third-level students to provide clear, student-focused lessons across a range of STEM subjects. I have experience working with neurodivergent students and am more than happy to tailor my approach to a given student's needs and requests!

I teach both JC and LC students in Biology, Chemistry, Science and Math, at a variety of levels. I typically suggest 1 hour sessions, though longer sessions are possible. My lessons are focused on building confidence and enthusiasm for the subject, while developing strategies for exam success.
I offer a free first session so we can meet and discuss goals, challenges associated with the subject and so that I can better design my lessons to fit your requirements. In a typical class, we will work through some theory and applied examples, particularly exam questions. My goal is to encourage a greater understanding and prepare my students so they are better able to encounter unexpected questions, so I focus not only on the answers, but how to break down the questions and potential strategies.
As a researcher in biological sciences, I am happy to include some more recent research examples for students with a particular interest in the subject. I find these examples are often especially helpful in explaining difficult-to-grasp concepts.
