About Ofelya

I'm Ofelya, a PhD candidate in Biomedical Engineering at UC Davis. With a solid academic background from the University of Oklahoma in Biochemistry, I bring a robust understanding of STEM fields to each tutoring session. Throughout my educational journey, I have been committed to excellence, not just in my own studies but in helping others achieve their academic goals. My tutoring experience spans over two years, where I have successfully guided students in mastering Math, Biology, and Chemistry, as well as preparing for their SAT and ACT exams. I take pride in making complex subjects understandable and enjoyable, which has been a key to my students' success. Professionalism is at the heart of my teaching approach. I am punctual, organized, and thorough in my preparation, ensuring that every tutoring session is both productive and enriching. As a mentor, I aim to build not only academic skills but also confidence, encouraging students to believe in their capabilities and to approach challenges with a positive mindset. Whether you are looking to improve your grades, get ready for college entrance exams, or simply gain a better understanding of STEM subjects, I am here to support you every step of the way. Let's make learning a rewarding experience together!

About the lesson

I am Ofelya, a passionate third-year PhD candidate at UC Davis, specializing in Biomedical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry

I have over a year of experience tutoring students for their SAT and ACT exams, and another year spent in a tutoring center, where I helped students excel in Math, Biology, and Chemistry. Additionally, I teach Armenian to young children at an Armenian school in Sacramento, an experience that has greatly enhanced my teaching skills, communication abilities, and adaptability to different student age groups.

Teaching Method and Techniques: My approach to tutoring is student-centered and adaptive. I believe in building a strong, foundational understanding of concepts, followed by interactive problem-solving sessions. I use a variety of tools and techniques, including visual aids, real-life examples, and interactive quizzes to keep the lessons engaging and effective.

Typical Lesson Plan: A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material, followed by an introduction to new concepts. Most of the session is dedicated to hands-on practice through exercises and discussions, ensuring that students not only understand the material but can also apply their knowledge effectively. I conclude each session with a summary of what we covered and a preview of what's next, setting clear expectations and goals.

What Sets Me Apart: What differentiates me as a tutor is my commitment to making learning a positive and confidence-building experience. I strive to make complex subjects accessible and enjoyable, fostering a genuine interest in learning among my students. My extensive experience with students of various age groups and backgrounds allows me to tailor my approach to meet each student's unique needs and learning style.

Who the Lessons Are For: My lessons are ideal for middle and high school students who are eager to improve their understanding and performance in Math, Biology, Chemistry, and SAT/ACT preparation. English classes are open to people of any age.

It would be my joy and honor to assist you and/or your children in excelling in areas where my expertise can provide the most benefit. Let’s embark on this educational journey together!
