About Aeon
Hello! My name is Aeon, and I am a freelance educator based in Miami. My educational background is in the arts, having studied many different art forms, and architecture. I have a passion for math, and apply this to many areas in my life, from teaching students ways to not be afraid of the Pythagorean theorem to reverse engineering Japanese bookbinding. Oh and I love riding roller coasters. I am a huge coaster nerd!
I have worked at a handful of learning centers including Huntington and Levy Learning Center. I have also helped a number of students independently improve their grade average and do test prep such as for the SAT and ACT. I always try to find a digestible framework when teaching someone a concept they may find intimidating or overwhelming. I am a big fan of breaking things down to smaller elements to make them less scary and in due time, adaptable to your own understanding!
I am detail-oriented, professional, and friendly. I am passionate about helping others, so much so that I am also in the process of starting my math YouTube channel! Stay tuned ;-)

My teaching approach is relatively simple: I am primarily interested in how a student thinks, and using analytical tools to break down the information into digestible bits. Once these foundational bits make sense, then we can talk about why something works! I am personable and friendly, respectful, and having studied in the arts, I believe I have practice in creative ways to not only teach an idea, but in understanding how to adapt to different learning styles. (Some students are more visual, while others need a more mental analogy, for example). I have practiced the art (no pun intended) of both!
If I may ring my own bell (chuckling as I write this), I would say I am a fun and relatable tutor. I'd rather promote understanding, than enforce academia, though I have the knowledge. I am relatable to my students, and never put myself above a dad joke or a math joke. I am patient and teach math as a companion, in a matter-of-fact way, as an equal, and not a superior.
The lessons are for anyone who may want to brush up on math concepts, needs help in school or in a curriculum they are a part of, or perhaps anyone preparing for a test or who wants to improve their grades. This can include but is not just limited to students! I have helped a number of students improve their grade average from a D to a B or even an A! I love to empower students to help themselves ultimately!
My passion for math applies not just to doing "schoolwork". Having worked in the arts, I have applied math to processes in my own life, to time management, to music, even to nerdy things like color theory. I won't bore you with that in my lessons, but I'd be happy to bring that same positive geeky spirit to my lessons!
I have helped students in person, virtual school, in middle school, high school, and even some college students. In subjects ranging from arithmetic, algebra, geometry, pre-cal, and recently have even started teaching physics for one student. I have also tutored in science, history, language arts.

The listed rate is a base, and is subject to change. Please contact me for specific details! Typically, high school levels of math and higher-order math levels have higher rates, as well as in-person lessons. This may include but is not limited to: developing curriculum outside of the lessons, preparing for a test with a rushed deadline, and developing a lesson plan. I am happy to negotiate a rate that works for my students :-).
