About Christian
I am 23 years old, open, motivated and fun. I love to get to know my students on a personal level. I believe creating a space where students can be themselves creates a fun environment making learning enjoyable. I have extensive experience as a private tutor, tutoring students of all levels and different ages. I have additional experience in teaching SEN students. Academically, I studied both Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics up to A-level, achieving top grades. I attained a Master’s in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Bath, achieving over 90% in Mathematics and Mechanics units. Among other things, I achieved First-Class marks in Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Systems and Control, along with numerous experiences in Engineering. One of which involved working as a Mechanical Engineer Chess dynamics, on a variety of large-scale projects.

I fundamentally believe we all have the capabilities of learning a concept. Often the inability for a student to grasp a concept does not equate to a lack of intellect, but rather a lack of understanding. Confidence stands as the catalyst to this goal; ensuring a student is comfortable with a concept creates a safe space for them to be open, enriching their knowledge even further. A student that is confident in their understanding is high achieving. We all excel at one thing or another and that is due to our comfortability in that said thing. This contrasts to ‘routine methods’ which breeds dependency, stopping any form of flexible thinking. On contrary, while this is sometimes necessary, it should never be the focus! My teaching style mirrors that of a pyramid. Everything starts with a foundation. In Maths it begins with the basic operations such as adding, subtracting and multiplying- all fundamental elements in maths. Following this concept, I would start by giving students relatively ‘easy’ questions and build their knowledge by slowly increasing the complexity. This provides the steps to dissecting concepts of a higher level, but it must begin with the basics first. By doing this, it would follow on step by step to a level in which the complexity increases. I believe the reason why people struggle with maths is due to the lack of understanding the basics, it is then difficult for a student to excel.

Christian is a remarkable tutor. It’s not often you find one that is both inspiring and patient. He endeavours to ensure a student really understands a question/concept making them feel at ease if they need him to repeat himself. His teaching style is incredible, he is able to explain a complex question in a way that can be easily comprehended. He has really helped my brother excel in maths and gain confidence. Would really recommend him.
For years my son has struggled with Maths and in particular, with a lack of confidence and enjoyment in the subject. After a lengthy search for a tutor, I found Christian who has a genuine passion for his subject and an incredible ability to impart his knowledge in an engaging and patient style. My son responds very well during his lessons with Christian and his confidence has grown significantly - all of which has resulted in his improvement in Maths by almost two levels since he began his lessons with Christian in October 2020! I feel safe in knowledge that I have found the right tutor to take my son through to a very successful GCSE outcome and beyond.
