About Sam
Hi! I’m Sam, an economics student at Brigham Young University with a strong background in mathematics, calculus, and statistics. I genuinely enjoy math and especially enjoy helping others reach the point where a difficult concept finally makes sense.
I’m patient, dependable, and easy to work with, and I understand that every student learns differently. I strive to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions, making mistakes, and working through challenging material without feeling judged or rushed.
As a current BYU student, I understand firsthand the importance of good study habits, preparation, and having someone who can explain difficult material in a way that makes sense. I’d love to help students strengthen their math skills, improve their confidence, and reach their academic goals.

My goal as a tutor is to make math feel less intimidating and help students understand the “why” behind what they’re doing, not just memorize steps and formulas.
I tailor each lesson to the student and the concepts they’re currently working on. We can go through homework or practice problems together, prepare for an upcoming test, review concepts from class, or go back and strengthen foundational skills that may be making newer material difficult.
I like to break complicated problems into smaller, manageable steps and explain concepts in different ways until we find an approach that clicks. I’m patient, encouraging, and want students to feel comfortable asking questions without worrying about getting something wrong.
As an economics student at BYU, I regularly work with math and statistics and understand how these concepts apply beyond the classroom. I offer tutoring in general mathematics, pre-calculus, calculus, and statistics for elementary, middle school, and high school students.
