About Rhys
Hi! I am Rhys, and my principal qualifications for tutoring social studies are my Grade 9 in History GCSE and A*s in History and Politics A-Levels. In my experience of informal tutoring and self-study, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic when there was little classroom support, I have grown to understand how to translate vague interests into concrete exam success as well as anyone. I also have experience with several different exam boards throughout my studies and tutoring experience.

In my GCSE and A-Level studies, I learned to appreciate that even the most important themes and events cannot be made interesting if they are only seen through textbook-based rote learning. Rather, constant questioning and discussion is a much more effective and enjoyable way to retain information. History and Politics involve a large amount of content, but in my lessons I encourage that this not be memorised, but applied (off the cuff and in writing) to improve exam technique and fostera general interest in the subjects.
