About Danielle
With four years of teaching experience under my belt, I bring both energy and expertise to every session. My journey as an educator began in Taiwan, where I spent a year teaching English as a Second Language to students aged 6 to 18. This experience gave me a solid foundation in engaging learners across a wide age range and skill levels. I used a lively mix of flashcards, storytelling games, roleplays, and reading activities to make English come alive—and to keep students laughing, thinking, and speaking with confidence. For the past three years, I've expanded my focus to include not just ESL, but also creative writing—my true passion. I've worked with students of all backgrounds to help them express themselves through short stories, screenplays, personal narratives, and more. My classroom is a space for creativity to bloom, guided by strong writing fundamentals and fueled by imagination. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Communication with a focus on Video Production, which means I’m especially excited to help students interested in storytelling for the screen. Whether you want to write the next great fantasy epic, develop a gripping personal essay, or draft a clever screenplay, I can help you shape your ideas into something powerful and polished. Currently, I’m halfway through becoming a certified teacher in British Columbia, and I continue to grow alongside my students. I’m all about blending practical writing tools with fun, interactive techniques that make learning feel like an adventure. I believe in a hands-on, immersive approach to teaching creative writing. My methodology combines structured learning with creative freedom, aiming to inspire and nurture each student's unique voice. I incorporate elements of storytelling from various genres and cultures to broaden perspectives and spark creativity. Interactive exercises and peer feedback sessions are integral to my teaching style, ensuring a dynamic learning experience.
Typical Lesson Plan:
Introduction and Warm-Up: Engage students with a creative prompt or intriguing story excerpt related to the day's theme.
Skill Building Activity: Teach specific writing techniques such as character development, plot structuring, or dialogue crafting through interactive exercises.
Creative Writing Session: Dedicated time for students to work independently on their stories, with one-on-one guidance from me as needed.
Reflection and Goal Setting: Wrap up with a reflection on what they've learned and set goals for their ongoing projects.
