About Courtney
I am a certified secondary educator with a passion for helping students find their footing in English. I hold a teaching certification in English for secondary grades, which means I bring both subject expertise and formal training in how to effectively teach young learners.
I understand that every student comes to tutoring with a different background, level of confidence, and set of goals. My job is to meet you where you are, build on what you already know, and give you the tools to keep growing long after our sessions end.

My approach to English tutoring is student-centered and adaptive because every learner is different. A typical lesson begins with a quick check-in to review any recent assignments or areas of confusion, followed by focused instruction on the target skill. I use real examples, guided practice, and discussion to make concepts stick rather than just lecturing. We wrap up with a clear action plan so students know exactly what to work on before our next session.
What sets me apart is my formal secondary education certification. I don't just know the subject, I'm trained in how to teach it effectively to young learners. I understand how secondary school curricula are structured, what teachers expect, and how to help students meet those expectations while actually building lasting skills.
My lessons are designed for middle and high school students in grades 6 through 12 who want to improve in reading, writing, grammar, literary analysis, or general English language arts. I also work well with students who are preparing for standardized tests or tackling particularly challenging class assignments.
