About Christopher

Hello, I'm Christopher Lee.

For 25 years, I've helped students from Grade K through IB Higher Level and university become stronger writers—building foundations in the early years and earning top grades in the upper grades, IB, and university. I hold an M.Ed. and am a BC-certified teacher. I've led teacher workshops that strengthen instructional skills in reading and writing, and I evaluate BC teaching resources through a Ministry of Education–affiliated agency—so my methods and materials meet the highest standards.

What your child can expect:

- Science-based instruction drawn from language acquisition, cognitive science, and literacy—no guesswork, no generic worksheets

- Explicit instruction, mentor texts, scaffolded practice, and targeted feedback

- Custom lessons, exemplars, revision guides, and progress tracking

- Lessons that are structured, purposeful, and genuinely encouraging

Whether your child is building foundational writing skills, tackling literary analysis, preparing for IB exams, or refining university-level essays, I'll meet them where they are and help them grow. Ask me for references from students and their parents—they'll tell you about the grades and the confidence their children gained. Ask, too, for references from teachers who've attended my workshops; they can speak to the incisive, practical instructional methods I introduced there.

I'm Christopher Lee. Let's get started.

What makes my approach unique? I blend classroom credibility with personalized precision. My methods are rooted in science, drawing from language acquisition, cognitive science, and literacy research. This means I don't just assign writing tasks—I teach the process behind strong writing.

Here's what you can expect from my lessons:
- **Explicit Instruction**: I clearly define skills, model them, and demonstrate what success looks like.
- **Mentor Texts and Exemplars**: Analyze strong writing before crafting your own.
- **Scaffolding**: Use sentence frames, paragraph structures, and graphic organizers to build confidence and skill, gradually removing them as students progress.
- **Spaced Practice**: Revisit material over time to make sure it sticks..
- **Formative Assessment**: Quickly identify gaps and adjust lessons to meet your needs.
- **Targeted Feedback**: Receive specific, actionable comments tied to your next steps.
- **Metacognition**: Learn to plan, monitor, and revise your writing independently.

Every lesson is tailored to your needs, whether you're a Grade K–12 student building foundational skills, an IB student mastering academic writing, or a university student sharpening your essays and research writing. I also cater to students who feel stuck or want to elevate their writing from good to excellent.

With extensive resources, including custom lessons, practice materials, and progress tracking, I ensure every session is evidence-based and focused on measurable improvement.

Don't just finish assignments—learn to write with clarity, structure, and confidence. Book a lesson with me today, and let's unlock your writing potential together!

Understanding My Pricing

My hourly fee is higher than what many tutors charge. It reflects 25 years of experience, an M.Ed., BC teacher certification, and a standard of work most tutoring doesn't include.

I lead workshops for teachers on reading and writing, and through a Ministry-affiliated agency I evaluate the resources BC classrooms rely on. That exposure matters: your child won't be stuck with one approach that isn't working. My instruction is science-based, grounded in research on how reading and writing develop.

The results speak for themselves. Ask me for references: students and their parents will tell you about the grades and the confidence their children gained; teachers who've attended my workshops will speak to the methods I taught them.

What my fee includes:

Teaching built around your child's specific needs—never one-size-fits-all

All marking and written feedback, done on my own time—never during your paid session

Custom materials, exemplars, revision guides, and progress tracking

Every piece of work copied to you as it's completed

Possible additional costs, so there are no surprises: printed workbooks or texts, if you'd like physical copies, and any third-party fees such as exam registration.

I keep my schedule small on purpose—a limited caseload is what makes this level of service possible. I'll contact you directly if I see a breakthrough or a concern worth discussing.

Let's make top grades in writing the expectation, not a surprise.
