About Hyejun

As an Ontario Certified Teacher (Transitional Certificate) and Bachelor of Education candidate at Western University, I bring current classroom experience and a genuine passion for helping students feel confident in their learning. I have experience working with students from Kindergarten through Grade 8 in one-on-one, small-group, and classroom settings, with a particular focus on literacy, reading, writing, and elementary mathematics.

I believe tutoring should be a supportive space where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and trying again. I take the time to get to know each student's strengths, interests, and learning needs so that lessons can be engaging, encouraging, and personalized.

Whether your child needs extra academic support, help building foundational skills, or simply a little more confidence, my goal is to help them become a more capable and independent learner.

About the lesson

I am an Ontario Certified Teacher (Transitional Certificate) and B.Ed. candidate who believes students learn best when they feel supported, capable, and comfortable making mistakes. I use a personalized, student-centred approach that combines explicit instruction, modelling, guided practice, and learning strategies tailored to each student's needs.

A typical lesson begins with a brief review and check-in, followed by a focused lesson or skill-building activity. I then provide guided practice before giving students opportunities to apply the skill independently. I use ongoing questions and observation to check understanding and adjust my approach when needed.

What sets me apart is my focus on building both academic skills and confidence. Rather than simply giving students answers, I help them develop strategies they can use independently. I have experience supporting students from Kindergarten through Grade 8 in literacy, reading, writing, mathematics, homework support, and general academic skills. I also have experience providing one-on-one literacy intervention and leading engaging STEAM activities for young learners.
