About Hergis

Hi, I’m Hergis—a UC Berkeley Chemical Engineering grad (summa cum laude) with associate degrees in Chemistry, Physics, and Math.

I have over 5 years of math tutoring experience, and I am a Chemical Engineer, so my strength is helping students connect maths to real-life examples, which helps them understand and do better in Math.

I’ve helped over 20 students score A+ in their final exams which has helped them get into their dream university courses.

I can tutor Geometry, Trigonometry, Algebra, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Statistics, and more.

In my free time, I enjoy weightlifting and practicing martial arts (Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu). I also go rock climbing every other weekend and love playing and watching soccer.

I’m fluent in both English and French, so we can chat in whichever language you’re most comfortable with.

About the lesson

No matter how stuck you feel, I can help.

My Teaching Style:

I like using the Socratic method. Instead of just giving you the answer, I’ll ask you questions that help you think deeper and arrive at that “Aha!” moment yourself. In my experience, this method doesn’t just help you understand the material better—it makes the learning stick and fosters a growth mindset and resilience.

Don’t worry—I know nobody likes being put on the spot. I’ve got that in mind, so our sessions feel more like a conversation than an interrogation. I promise.

Hergis is hands down the best math tutor I’ve ever had! He really knows how to break down complicated stuff into something that actually makes sense. What I loved most was how patient he was—he never made me feel dumb for asking questions, and trust me, I had a lot of them. Plus, his way of teaching is super chill, like you’re just having a conversation. My grades went up, but more importantly, I actually started to enjoy math, which I never thought would happen. If you need someone who really cares about helping you get it, Hergis is your guy!
