About Kerry
Hi, I’m Kerry! I’m a chemical engineering student in the Honors College with a strong foundation in math and problem-solving, and I genuinely love helping students feel more confident in their abilities. I know firsthand how frustrating math can feel when something doesn’t click, and I’m passionate about creating a space where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.
I have experience working with younger students through my time at a summer camp, where I learned how to be patient, encouraging, and adaptable to different learning styles. I always aim to meet students where they are and help them build a strong foundation so they can succeed not just in one class, but moving forward.
My goal is to make math feel less overwhelming and more approachable, while helping students gain confidence in themselves along the way.

I focus on helping middle and high school students rebuild their math foundations and gain confidence in topics they may have missed or struggled with. My approach is centered on meeting students exactly where they are, no judgment, no rushing, just clear, supportive learning at their pace.
My teaching method:
I break concepts down into simple, manageable steps and connect them back to the basics. Instead of just showing how to solve a problem, I explain why each step works so students can apply the idea on their own. I also adapt my teaching style to each student, whether they learn best through visuals, repetition, or real-world examples.
A typical lesson:
We start by identifying what the student already understands and where gaps might be. From there, I review foundational concepts, walk through examples together, and then guide the student through practice problems. I make sure they can explain the process back to me before moving on, so we know the understanding is solid, not just memorized.
What sets me apart:
As a chemical engineering student in the Honors College, I bring strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of math fundamentals. I also have experience working at a summer camp, where I taught and mentored younger students in a hands-on environment. This taught me how to quickly adapt lessons to different learning styles, personalities, and skill levels, whether that means breaking concepts down further, trying new explanations, or adjusting the pace. I specialize in catching students up on missed basics, which is often the key to improving both grades and confidence. I’m patient, encouraging, and focused on helping students feel capable, not overwhelmed.
Who my lessons are for:
Middle school and high school students who need help with math—especially those who feel behind, confused, or want to strengthen their foundational skills. This includes support with homework, test prep, or rebuilding understanding in core topics like algebra, pre-algebra, calculus and general math.
