About Rose
I am a Chemical Physics student at the University of Edinburgh. Originally from South-West England, I achieved 11 GCSEs (equivalent to National 5), with all being equal to or higher than an A. This includes A* in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. I studied 4 A Levels ( similar to Advanced Highers) in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Philosophy and achieved A*AAB respectively. When I applied to university, I received offers from 4 of the 5 I applied to (including UCL, York and Edinburgh) and had several interviews at Oxford University. I have extensive experience tutoring and working with children in a professional setting, as well as having worked at several part-time jobs since the age of 15. I am not naturally confident in my academic ability, which allows me to empathise when you feel like you just can’t do it, but I also know that often questions are simpler than we can imagine them to be. I want to tutor because I've found that learning and education can be more enjoyable than initially imagined and that it truly doesn't take as much as you would expect in order to be confident in a subject

I know how disheartening and demoralising it can be when you don’t know where to start with a question. I’ve been there! I believe that confidence and familiarity with a subject are the most important aspects to succeed in a subject. I use a traditional teaching style with an emphasis on understanding and patience. My goal in teaching is that even when a student doesn’t instantly know how they’re going to answer a question, that they can use basic principles to work towards an answer. Lessons can be between 40 to 120 minutes long. I have tutored many students in Mathematics and Science, with ages ranging from 12 to 16, and with each student having varying confidence levels. I worked as a Young Leader with Girlguiding for 5 years, leading activities and offering pastoral support. Through this I became DBS certified. I have experience working with neurodivergent children from both Girlguiding and tutoring, including tutoring an autistic child for 2 years. These lessons are for children aged 7-18 years old although this is flexible.

Perfect! Rose has really helped my daughter who is neurodiverse and was very anxious about her maths GCSE exams. Rose has been friendly and sensitive in her tutoring and has really boosted my daughter's confidence and reinforced her skills. My daughter was sad to stop the lessons although she is still not a fan of maths.
