About Hailey
I love learning about how the world works. In fact, I became a chemistry student at the University of Waterloo to learn more about how things work. However, as much as I love learning, it is just as important to me to be able to help others and to teach them the things that I find so interesting. My mission as a tutor is to reach as many students as I can and inspire them to start learning about how the world works.

To me, it is very important that students are taught according to their learning styles and specific needs. Thus, I will be tailoring lessons to the needs of the student, typically following the proceeding format:
1. Ask the student to explain to me what they know about the subject. If it is a new subject, then I will ask them about any previous knowledge in the field (for example, if they are learning trigonometry, then I will ask them what they might have recently done in a math class).
2. Determine points of improvement or any gaps in knowledge. If the student is unsure about a lot of the subject, then we will go through examples and concepts.
3. I will provide the student with practice problems and solutions, and make sure to complete some during the lesson so they have a firm grasp of the process of how to complete the problem.
4. Ask the student to explain to me the subject being taught to the best of their abilities.
5. Include breaks for the student to digest the information if needed, and communicate with the student to ensure that they feel safe and at ease.
I work well with students between ages 5-16. For math, I am available to help with almost all ages (up to introductory calculus/vectors); for chemistry, I can teach up to Grade 12; for music, I can teach elementary school/middle school theory and trumpet performance.
