About Sophie
I am a First Class MA Chinese Honours graduate from the University of Edinburgh, and have also studied at Fudan University in Shanghai and National Chengchi University in Taipei as a BACS Scholar, spending 6 months living in Taiwan. After experiencing language classes across three different institutions, I understand what makes an effective and interesting class, and want to support my students to make real tangible progress in the areas that they care about the most! Alongside teaching, I am a musician and perform regularly in venues across Edinburgh, and am passionate about literature, art and the outdoors.

Sophie has been helping me gain an introductory knowledge to Mandarin Chinese. As a total beginner, I found certain aspects like tones and grammar to be difficult but Sophie’s lessons are very well structured and she adapts to my needs as a beginner learner as we continued lessons.
