About Richard
I'm a pianist and current Master's student at the New England Conservatory. My musical training began in China, then continued in Australia and North America. I hold degrees from The Glenn Gould School in Toronto and the University of Montreal. I've performed in venues such as Koerner Hall and Cliburn Hall. I've also served as a jury member for an international piano competition and have guided my students to their own achievements.
My teaching philosophy is simple and straightforward. I believe that every student is different, so every lesson should be too. I create a supportive, focused environment where we work at your pace toward your goals—whether that's passing an exam, winning a competition, preparing for college auditions or just playing for the joy of it.
All ages and levels welcome, in Boston or online. Send me a message!

I believe every student learns differently, so I always adjust to fit each individual's needs. My lessons are efficient, supportive and welcoming. I create a space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I believe the real growth happens when you learn from mistakes. With my background as an international competition juror and prize-winning pianist, I know what it takes to succeed in exams, competitions and college auditions. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced player, I'm here to help you reach your musical goals—step by step.

Richard is a first-rate musician with a refined personality. Back during our days studying at The Glenn Gould School, we’d spend many nights with another colleague playing piano for each other, critiquing along the way. From these “piano roasts,” I can attest to Richard’s abilities as both a skilled performer and teacher. I highly recommend Richard to anyone seeking to deepen their love and understanding of music.
As a teacher, Richard is extremely patient, caring, and responsible for all his students. As a performer, he has the technical prowess, capability, and an incredible stage presence. Highly recommend!
