About Keith
I am passionate about learning for its own sake, particularly in the arts and humanities. I attended the University of Rhode Island, majoring in Classics and English with a minor in Medieval Studies. I graduated summa cum laude and produced a collection of original songs written in Latin and Ancient Greek. While attending URI, I worked as a teaching assistant and was the only tutor for Latin and Ancient Greek at the beginning and intermediate levels.
I have privately tutored children ages 8-11 in English grammar, literacy skills, Latin, Ancient Greek, poetry, and mythology for five years.
I have experience with varying levels of aptitude, from children who have bilingual experience to children who have reading disabilities.
I have also been an accomplished poet, songwriter, and performer for twenty years. I have published works, toured Europe, and performed at major festivals like the Newport Folk Festival.

I believe in active learning and approaching each student according to their needs. I tailor my lessons to fit the individual, whether for an age group, grade level, or level of proficiency.
I believe it is best to start small and proceed with digestible amounts of work that help facilitate and encourage a firm grasp of the material and a desire to learn that allows the individual to feel pride in their ability.
I do this by paying attention to small details, going over grammar and vocabulary slowly but allowing time for students to ask questions while maintaining a relaxed, casual, and fun atmosphere.
