About Declan
I have been teaching piano for 10 years mentoring students from age 6 to 45! I enjoy watching each of them grow and continue to push them to their greatest potential. If it's learning to play by ear or working towards Grade 5 theory, there is a challenge for everyone's individual needs that I will help you overcome.
Since 2016 I have worked with summer camps in America as the Performing Arts Program Director and during the winter period work as a Musical Director with theatre companies. I have performed in the local music scene as a solo artist and session musician for the last 8 years. I hold a Masters Degree in Technology & Applied Composition from the San Francisco Conservatory of music.

When I first started piano lessons my teacher forced music theory and boring melodies on me. Studying Live Performance at College and Production at University I learnt more about technique, theory and understanding through enjoyment! I like to know what my students like and enjoy and I create a lesson plan around their individual needs.

Declan has been my daughter's piano tutor for 6 months now. He has tutored her on Skype throughout lockdown and we are now back to lessons in person. Declan is a great tutor and has been fantastic at helping my daughter develop in her skills and theory but also keeping the lessons fun and her interested.
I have been taking vocal coaching lessons with Declan and I have no hesitation in recommending him as a tutor.
