About Aditi

Hello!

My name is Aditi, though you can call me Dot, and I am passionate about developing personalised curriculums and teaching one-to-one.

I have a BA in Creative Writing and Music (1st class hons with outstanding overall achievement award) and am currently completing an online MSc in Education. Two of my short stories have been published in literary magazines, and my original music has been used by Netflix India as well as Google Pixel.

I am a teaching assistant registered with Teaching Personnel, and have worked with over 40 students so far. I also have seven months of one-to-one language tutoring experience, as well as international experience in Korea teaching English as a second language.

As a teaching assistant, a big part of my job is to care for students who may be falling behind in class due to a range of issues. In particular, since I speak Hindi, I am able to help those students who may be struggling to transition from Hindi to English. My creative background is also a useful tool to employ when a student does not perform well under traditional schooling methods.

About the lesson

My main goal when teaching a new student, is to get to know their learning needs and tailor the curriculum accordingly. I do not believe in a 'one size fits all' approach, and take my educational cues from Learner-Centred theory. That is why, in the first session of any course I will ask the student to fill out a questionnaire detailing what they struggle with, what they have found helpful in the past, and any learning goals they might have.

After that, we will come up with a timetable that fits both our schedules, and I will modify my curriculum to best suit the student. Throughout the course, I will be asking for feedback at regular intervals, so that we can keep tweaking it. This puts a lot of responsibility on the student to keep track of their learning and reflect on methods that work for them, which is an invaluable skill in all areas of education.
