About Grace
Ms. Cheng has been a teacher for 12+ years, in both private and public schools in the San Francisco Bay Area.
She received her B.A. from UC Berkeley in English and Psychology, and holds a CA Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential.
She has taught 2nd- 5th grades (all core subjects), English as a Second Language (Jr. High and High Schoolers), and has tutored students of a variety of ages in English Language Arts.
She was born in Taiwan, and raised in the United States since age 3. She speaks conversational Mandarin.
In her free time, she enjoys hiking, trying new recipes, and spending time with family and friends.

I aim to be clear, engaging, and supportive in lessons, with the goal of helping students reach their goals.
A typical lesson structure includes:
1. Warm- up and review of past skills covered
2. Introduction of new content, modeled by teacher with examples
3. Practice of new content/skills, with support as needed
4. Goal of lesson: student performing new skills on their own!
Lessons are tailored to students' specific learning needs!
Examples:
For students needing more support in a specific area (for ex: 2nd grade reading fluency), lessons will be focused on developing strong phonics skills and practicing blending letters & sounds to decode words
For students desiring enrichment (for ex: 5th grade essay writing), lessons will be focused on developing strong essay organizational structure, good supporting details, and strengthening vocabulary and sentence variety
For students looking to grow in conversational English Language skills, lessons will include introducing new vocabulary, modeling sentence usage, and practicing in real conversation!
Lessons are for:
