About Paula
I was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain, making Spanish my native language. I moved to the U.S. at 12 years old with little to no English skills, so I know what it is like to learn a new language at a very young age! I am excited to share the tricks and activities that helped me with this transition, but also adapt to every child's needs and learning style.
I graduated from UCSB with a Bachelor's in Communications and a minor in Applied Psychology, and I'm currently working on my Master's in Criminology from UCI. I have experience with customer service and always enjoy meeting new people and learning from others. Being a foreigner, I am thrilled to meet people in a similar situation as me and be able to learn about different cultures.
I'm active, positive, and fun, and I will always prioritize the happiness and well-being of others to ensure their success. I really enjoy sports (specifically soccer), music, and walking on the beach. I'm a very family-oriented person.

I try to make lessons fun and interactive. Spanish being my native language, I've had the pleasure of meeting friends from various Hispanic countries, so I try to culturally relate with others and provide examples based on what they are used to growing up (Ex: children's shows, movies, songs, etc...). For example, I ask children about their favorite characters/movies in order to include them in our lessons. I encourage watching shows together in Spanish and re-acting specific scenes. I include music in our lessons through fill-in-the-block activities to focus on their listening skills. And I would include any activity the children enjoy (like sports, for example) to make lessons more entertaining. My skills in Communications will help guide me through this process.
