About Travis

My name is Travis Dawson, I am from South Africa, currently finishing my third year in a Bachelor of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

I have found learning the mathematical principles have allowed me to pursue some really awesome projects ranging from solar system simulation, to creating autonomous agents, and I want to show you the possibilities that mathematics creates.

However I understand it is often a feared course, that assumes knowledge, and that is covered too quickly. I want to share with you the tips, tricks, and practices that enables me to successfully complete and understand calculus and other mathematical areas.

I use my mathematical skills, and apply them through programming languages such as Java, Python, Matlab, numpy, pandas, amongst others.

Mathematics is the foundation of Data Science, Computer Science, and Artificial Intelligence. This lesson specifically focuses on Calculus I & II, typically feared subjects. My role is to make each step understandable, and show you the joy and advantage in understanding this subject.

Queries into logic and stats can be further explored and chatted about.

Beginners:
My role is to determine your current mathematical proficiency, determining your strengths and weaknesses. From this point we can ensure a strong mathematical baseline. This is the start of our calculus journey.

The typical learning areas for Calculus I are structures as follows:
- Preliminaries
- Limits and Continuity
- Derivatives
- Mean Value Theorem
- Integrals
- Sequences & Series
- Ordinary Differential Equations (ODE's)
-Intro to Multivariable Calculus

From this point the calculus II syllabus will begin.

Students:
My role is to assess your current Calculus abilities within the scope of Calculus I & II.
We will make a study plan that will work with your current course in order to bolster your understanding and confidence in approaching problems. We will achieve this through practice and step-by-step understanding, generating a series of examples for you to refer back to when in doubt. I have found this forms a calculus map, that you can apply to questions going forward.

If any of the above apply to you, let me know, and lets begin!

I usually conduct my lessons via Google Meet. Prior to a lesson we will discuss the topics to be covered, such that each lesson is goal focused and well organized.
