About George
With more than a decade of experience, I have had the pleasure of working with a diverse range of young adults in a variety of capacities from homework help, to last minute revision sessions, to nurturing students throughout the academic year. For dozens of students, I have been the sole source of educational provision in cases of exclusion, special educational needs, serious illness, or home schooling, including two students from the UK Channel 4’s TV show "Jamie’s Dream School". In 2014, I was invited to write a Maths revision guide for teenage students for the national British newspaper, The Telegraph.
SELECTED TUTORING EXPERIENCE
School Positions:
Bishop Challoner Catholic Federation of Schools, London, U.K. Jan.-June 2015
Worked either one-on-one or in small groups of students in this inner-city state school over six months with 15-16 year-olds during their final exam year. Provided classroom support for younger age groups and held regular tutorials for 16-18 year-old students in groups of three to 15.
Chelsea Academy, London, U.K. Dec. 2014-June 2015
Worked with groups of three to six 15-16 year-olds who required additional Maths support in their final exam year, nurturing those with the lowest predicted grades through to passing their exams.
Independent Students:
For these home-schooled students, I was responsible for planning, teaching, setting homework, and exam preparation for the entirety of the syllabus, typically over the course of an academic year or longer.
William (16): achieved A*
Maddy (16): progressed from predicted grade D to A in Physics IGCSE in just two months, and from predicted grade C to A* in Maths IGCSE over the following academic year.
Nayeem (15): progressed from predicted grade C to A* Maths.
Zoe (15-16, excluded from school): over 18 months progressed from pre-secondary school standard to passing her higher IGCSE Maths paper with a B.
Oliver: progressed from predicted grade D to A Maths IGCSE in three months.
Aysha: Maths IGCSE, Physics and Core IGCSE Science modules, English Literature & Language IGCSE, progressed from no qualifications to five A-C IGCSEs.

My bespoke teaching style is highly personalized based on each student's strengths and weaknesses. To that end, my techniques are customized to individual needs during engaging and interactive sessions that work through specific problems and examples. My focus is on helping students grasp underlying concepts rather than rote memorization. I like my lessons to be a dialogue as much as possible.
My lessons begin with a review of prior material, an introduction of new concepts that builds on and strengthens existing knowledge, including challenging practice questions. Naturally, this is all while giving constant feedback. I will assign homework where appropriate.
What sets me apart as a tutor is that I'm passionate, patient, and above all, I pride myself on making maths fun! Previous students have told me that my interest in the subject is infectious and leads to a joy in learning.
I specialize in maths for 11-18 year olds, specifically the syllabi for GCSE, iGCSE, IB, A Level (Core, Mechanics, Statistics), SAT, ACT, and in the subjects of Algebra, pre-Calculus, Calculus, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, among others.
