• 1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

  I developed a passion for music when I was 9 years old, after hearing Beethoven’s Appassionata Sonata for the first time. That moment changed everything — I instantly fell in love with the piano and classical music. Since then, the piano has become an essential part of my life; I genuinely can’t imagine life without it. It’s not just an instrument to me — it’s an extension of who I am.

• 2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

  Absolutely. My favourite composers are Bach, Beethoven, and Stravinsky — each of them brings something uniquely profound and timeless to music. But if I had to choose just one piece to listen to for the rest of my life, it would be Beethoven’s Hammerklavier Sonata. It stands apart from any other work ever written — intellectually vast, emotionally overwhelming, and musically transcendent. I could listen to it forever and still find something new every time.

• 3) Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

  To be honest, the most important challenge for a pianist isn’t just learning how to play pieces — it’s understanding the deeper structure behind the music. One of the hardest but most essential things I teach is helping students realise the importance of harmony, counterpoint, musical form, and especially developing strong listening skills. Convincing them of this can be difficult at first, but once they accept it, everything changes. That’s when I can finally breathe easily and give them my absolute best.

• 4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

  That really depends on the person — it’s not just about the instrument itself, but about how deeply you connect with it. If you love an instrument, practicing it becomes a joy, and even the hardest challenges feel natural. But if you're not passionate about it, even the simplest task can feel impossible.
  For example, the violin might seem like the most difficult instrument for someone who doesn’t connect with it — yet for a violin lover, it can be the sweetest thing in the world. And that goes both ways: ask a violinist to play percussion, and they might feel completely lost. So in the end, the hardest instrument is the one you don’t love — and the easiest is the one you truly do.

• 5) What are your keys to success?

  First and foremost, you have to love your instrument. Without that love, practice becomes a chore. Listening to high-quality music is just as important — it fuels your taste, your motivation, and your imagination. But motivation itself is key. Without a reason to move forward, it’s easy to get bored or discouraged.
  As a teacher, I always try to highlight even the smallest successes my students achieve. Celebrating those little steps keeps the spark alive. Being a pianist isn’t just about playing pieces — it requires you to reshape your daily routine and build a lifestyle around music. That level of commitment starts with love and grows with purpose.

• 6) Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

  If I had the chance, I’d love to spend an early morning with Ravel, Erik Satie, and Rachmaninoff. Their music carries such depth and subtle beauty — perfect for a calm, thoughtful atmosphere at the start of the day. What draws me most to these composers is the colour in their music — the way they paint with sound. It’s not just notes; it’s emotion, texture, and imagination. Listening to them (or even just talking with them) would be a peaceful and inspiring way to begin any morning.

• 7) Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

  Over the past 20 years, I’ve learned so much — not just from my teachers, but also from my students. One lesson that has stayed with me came from my piano teacher when I was around 14. I had made a mistake during a performance, and he simply said: “Sometimes, you need to stop remembering.”
  At first, I didn’t understand — but then it clicked. I was so focused on what should come next that I wasn’t truly listening to what I was playing in the moment. As soon as I let go of that pressure, the performance flowed perfectly.
  That phrase — “stop remembering” — has stayed with me in life too. When I feel overwhelmed or stuck in overthinking, I remind myself to just stop clinging to what’s in my head and return to the present. It works like magic.

• 8) What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

  It’s quite simple, really. I’ve been teaching music for over 10 years, and I also hold a university degree in music composition. That combination means I bring both academic knowledge and practical teaching experience to my students.
  I’ve worked with learners of all ages and backgrounds, so I adapt my approach to fit each student’s personality, goals, and learning style. Since piano is my main instrument, I focus not just on technique, but also on helping students develop a musical mindset — to think and feel like a musician, not just play like one. That balance between skill, knowledge, and emotional connection is what I bring to every lesson.
