About May
Qualifications: * Two 9s in English Literature and English Language GCSEs * Two A*s in English Literature and English Language A Levels * Durham University English Literature finalist working at first-class level I’ve always had a love for reading and essay writing, which led me to study English Literature at Durham University. I’ve tutored English Literature and English Language GCSE and A-Level students for a while now, and I’m proud to say that all of my students have gone on to pursue English at a higher level after working with me. I focus on helping students build confidence, break down complex ideas, and improve their writing. My goal is to make English feel more approachable and exciting, and I love seeing students grow and push themselves to the next level, whether that’s improving their grades or developing a deeper understanding of what they’re studying!

As a Durham University student currently achieving firsts in English Literature, I bring both a deep passion for the subject and a proven academic track record to my tutoring approach. With a background of four A*s at A-Level and an A* in a literature-based EPQ, I have honed my ability to break down complex literary concepts and foster a genuine love for literature in my students. I prioritise an engaging, personalised tutoring experience, helping students not only understand the intricacies of texts but also develop critical thinking and analytical skills that will serve them across their academic journey. My tutees' results include 100% grade 8-9, including one student's progress from a grade 3 to 9. Whether preparing for exams, coursework, or simply building confidence in their abilities, my goal is to guide each student towards achieving their fullest potential in English Literature or Language.
