About Elison

I am a dedicated tutor specializing in dyslexia, with a personal understanding of the challenges and triumphs that come with it. Diagnosed with dyslexia in 3rd grade, I’ve lived through the struggles and successes firsthand, which fuels my passion for helping others navigate their own learning journeys.

My approach is deeply informed by my personal experiences and professional training. I use multi-sensory teaching methods tailored to each student’s unique needs, incorporating techniques that helped me overcome obstacles in my own education. This includes visual aids, auditory exercises, and hands-on activities designed to make reading and writing more accessible and engaging.

A typical lesson with me starts with a review of previous material to reinforce learning and build confidence. We then introduce new content through interactive, multi-sensory activities, ensuring that each student can engage with the material in a way that suits their learning style. Lessons conclude with a recap and a preview of upcoming goals, always with a focus on positive reinforcement to keep students motivated.

What sets me apart is my personal journey with dyslexia. I understand the emotional and academic hurdles my students face because I’ve been there myself. This unique perspective allows me to offer empathy, encouragement, and practical strategies that truly resonate with my students. I am committed to creating a supportive environment where every learner can build their skills and confidence.

My tutoring is ideal for students of all ages and levels who are dealing with dyslexia, whether they need foundational support or advanced strategies to enhance their reading and writing abilities. My goal is to empower each student with the tools and confidence they need to succeed, drawing from both my personal experiences and professional expertise.

My approach as a tutor for dyslexia focuses on creating a supportive, personalized learning environment that addresses each student’s unique needs. Here’s how I work:

Teaching Method and Techniques: I use a multi-sensory approach, incorporating visual, auditory, and kinesthetic techniques to reinforce learning. This method helps students connect with material in different ways, making reading and writing more accessible and engaging. Techniques include phonemic awareness exercises, guided reading practices, and interactive writing activities. I also integrate technology and specialized tools designed to aid dyslexic learners, such as text-to-speech software and tailored reading apps.

What Sets Me Apart: What sets me apart as a tutor is my deep understanding of dyslexia and my ability to adapt teaching strategies to fit each student’s individual learning style. I am committed to making learning a positive and empowering experience, using techniques backed by current research and tailored to each student’s strengths and challenges. My background includes extensive training in dyslexia education, my personal experience with dyslexia and hands-on experience with a range of dyslexic learners, allowing me to provide targeted support that truly makes a difference.

Target Audience: My lessons are designed for students of various ages and educational levels who are struggling with dyslexia, including elementary through high school students. Whether a student needs foundational support or advanced strategies to improve reading and writing skills, I offer customized tutoring that meets their specific needs and academic goals.
