About James
I graduated from the University of Edinburgh in November 2024, achieving first-class honours in Japanese and Linguistics. My dissertation compared the grammars of different languages, and I also spent a year abroad studying at the prestigious Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan. As a friendly and engaging tutor, I am happy to adjust my teaching style to best suit your needs, whether that’s creating a relaxed, enjoyable environment or keeping you focused and accountable as you work towards your academic goals.

I am a private tutor and Edinburgh University graduate (MA Japanese & Linguistics, First-Class Honours), offering tuition in: - English Language (GCSE, IB, ESL) - English Literature (GCSE) - Japanese (Beginner to Lower Intermediate) I have extensive experience teaching students of all ages, from children as young as 4 to adults, including those with additional needs. Whether you're looking for a few lessons to fine-tune your grade, more extensive support to achieve significant improvements, or want to learn a language for hobby or work, I will tailor a study plan to meet your needs and learning style. Lessons are one hour long, but longer sessions can be arranged as needed. Fully DBS checked.
